Foam density is how much “polymer” you actually get. An example is two pieces of foam that are the same size but have different weights. The heavier piece has a higher density than the light piece.  The heavier piece has more “polymer” jammed into the same size space.

In order to compare density of foam products the density is measured as the weight of a cubic foot. This means that a 12’x12’x12’ block of foam that weighs 4 pounds has a density rating of 4lbs. This is a simple way to compare foam products.

Density affects two areas of a memory foam sleep product, support and longevity.

1. If the memory foam doesn’t have enough Density then it won’t have enough “polymer” to support your body properly. If the density isn’t high enough you can feel the support layer beneath the memory foam and this will defeat the benefits of using memory foam.  Simply put: The more density the more material. The more material the better the support.
    
2. A product with higher density has more “polymer” and higher “polymer” content foam tends to retain more of its original properties. Lower density foam tends to break down leaving a depression where you sleep and won’t return to its original shape.
